The Heart Behind My Stories: Why I Write About Belonging

Updated: Apr 23

Long before Magnolia Creek ever had a name, it had a purpose.

At its core, my writing has always been about one thing: belonging.

Not the loud kind. Not the performative kind. But the quiet, steady kind that settles into your heart and reminds you that you are not alone.

I believe many of us walk through life carrying unseen stories — seasons of growth, loss, healing, and rediscovery. Moments where we question where we fit, who we are becoming, and whether there is still something hopeful ahead. Those are the spaces where my stories are born.

I don’t write about perfect characters or dramatic, larger-than-life worlds.I write about ordinary people navigating real emotions, real struggles, and meaningful turning points that often happen quietly rather than all at once.

Because that is how life truly unfolds.

The women and families in my stories are often searching for something deeper: peace, purpose, restoration, or simply a place to feel understood. And through their journeys, I aim to reflect a truth I hold closely — that growth is rarely instant, and belonging is rarely accidental.

It is discovered.

Sometimes in a new place.Sometimes through unexpected relationships.Sometimes during seasons we never would have chosen for ourselves.

As an author of small-town, inspirational women’s fiction, I am especially drawn to gentle storytelling. Stories that feel grounded. Hopeful. Real. The kind of stories that offer comfort without losing depth and inspiration without losing authenticity.

There is also a quiet thread of faith woven into my writing. Not as a spotlight, but as a steady presence — much like it often appears in everyday life. Subtle moments of guidance, strength, and grace that shape a person’s journey even when they don’t fully recognize it at the time.

That balance matters deeply to me.

I want my books to be a place readers can return to when they need something calming, encouraging, and emotionally sincere. A place where they can see pieces of their own experiences reflected back to them with compassion and hope.

Writing about belonging is not just a creative choice. It is a reflection of the kind of stories I believe the world needs more of.

Stories that remind us:That healing is possible. That new beginnings can grow from difficult seasons. That community still matters. And that even the quietest lives hold extraordinary meaning.

Magnolia Creek was built on these very ideas — a fictional town grounded in connection, growth, and the beauty of life’s slower, more meaningful moments.

When readers step into this world, my hope is that they do not just follow a storyline.I hope they feel welcomed.Seen.And gently reminded that wherever they are in their own journey, there is still room for hope, growth, and belonging ahead.

That is, and always will be, the heart behind my stories.
